Today, multiplatinum hip-hop artist, criminal justice reform advocate and entrepreneur Meek Mill is announcing the formation of his exclusive record label, Dream Chasers, as part of a partnership with Roc Nation.
Mill will serve as the President of Dream Chasers, where he will oversee the label and build a staff that will spearhead talent acquisition and development, label operations, creative strategy, marketing and legal, among other positions.
“Creating a record label has always been the next step in my journey as a businessman and I appreciate Roc Nation and JAY-Z’s support on this new venture,” Mill said. “I want to take my experiences in the music industry, use them to find young, hungry talent and open doors for the next generation of artists.”
Dream Chasers will have a corporate office in New York City. Mill is also opening a recording studio for the label’s artists.
The launch marks Mill’s latest shift into the business world. Most recently, the Philadelphia native announced his ownership stake in sports apparel retailer Lids – the largest retail seller of hats and licensed sports product in North America – as well as his plans to spearhead creative strategy for the brand.
Additionally, Mill has joined the ownership groups for an array of established and startup retail companies, including Ethika Underwear and Milano di Rouge
